Abstract
The aim of this research paper is to introduce information security threats for public organisations in the light of the municipal guards and ways of ensuring this safety. At the beginning the organisations including public organisations have been characterised. A few definitions of organisations have been presented. In the next part of this paper a case of ensuring safety, typology and threats sources from the perspective of different authors have been presented. The last part of this paper presents the issue of ensuring information safety and information management in public organisations from the practical point of view based on the report created after the Municipal Guards in Szczecinek internal audit. The audit has become the basis to develop information safety politics for hereinabove mentioned municipal guards.
